For a variety of reasons, I never updated this to recount the second day of my visit to PSU. Suffice it to say, it was amazing. Awesome. Exciting. Intimidating. Inspiring. You name the feeling and I probably felt it. I met with five professors, three students, discussed my future in the program, toured the campus (read: fell in complete and total lust with the library), and ate three awesome meals. Everyone was beyond nice and helpful, and I truly sat there thinking that this is the place I need to be.
As for what I'll be doing when I'm up there?... um, pure awesomeness! (For reference: You have to pronounce that "aw-SUM!" to get the full effect of what I'm trying to say.) They love their sports research, and they want to start doing more strategic communication stuff. Enter moi, apparently. They are strongly encouraging me to keep diving into the strat. comm. research I've already been doing, and in the meanwhile I'm going to be working on what seems like a crap-tonne of other sports-related projects. I'll be thrown into the 12 ft. end of a pool when I arrive, meaning I'm going to start working my ass off the moment classes kick off.
Depending how well you know me, you know I've pretty much found my Mecca. My manna from heaven. The cream to my Boston Cream donut.
In other news, today marks three weeks until I move into my new apartment. (Whether my furniture arrives when I do is a completely different story.) It's odd to know that the end of my time in Tampa is sharply breathing down my neck. There have been lunches and dinners, parties and outings are being planned. The finality of it hasn't quite hit me yet, but considering my roller-coaster moodiness I can tell that it's starting to creep in. Even so, it is what it is. Thankfully I was raised by a family of nomads, so I'm sure that I'll be fine once the move is made. (I also gather I'll be too busy to really think about it.)
On that note, time to go to Dinosaur World! RAWR! *stomp stomp stomp*

PS -- I RAWR Penn State.
